Common Roof Problems That Warrant Repair
Florida has some of the most unique weather conditions anywhere in the world. However, Florida’s weather is not all sunshine, and if you’ve lived down here long enough, you have more than likely dealt with the severe weather the state is known for. For roofs, Florida weather poses all kinds of problems. These problems are not limited to following:
- Damage From Severe Weather: If you’ve lived in Florida during the summer, you probably experienced some of the worst thunderstorms anywhere in the country. High winds, hail, and rain downpours are all common throughout the state. Additionally, we frequently experience hurricanes and tropical storm force winds. For roofs, all of these things can cause major damage ranging from structural issues to water intrusion.
- Wind Damage: One of the most common roof problems in Florida is damage to due high winds. Since thunderstorms are quite common, roofing materials are regularly lifted or damaged from debris. After a severe storm, it is always of benefit to inspect your roof.
- Long Term Wear and Tear: Our Florida weather is relentless. High heat, high humidity, and constant storms cause roofs to wear down faster than is normal. Over time, Florida weather can lead to a weakened roofing structure.
- Water Intrusion: Since Florida is home to a lot of moisture, standing water and general moisture can cause major structural damage, especially from mold that grows over time. If you ever see any standing water on your roof, whether its from a clogged gutter or from another issue, it is imperative you have your roof inspected and repaired asap. If not, you risk damage that can be both costly and increase with time.
